The organizers of the 1000 Man March outreach are pleased to present the activities of the year 2013.
Father’s Day 5K Walk/Run
The Second Annual Father’s Day 5K Walk/Run was an even greater success than the first. A total of 50 walkers and runners met early in the morning at Smith Cove Bacadere to participate this year. This walk continues to serve as an opportunity for fathers to exercise and bond with their sons. We look forward to our growth and our development with each of our events and community outreach projects.
Father’s Day Essay Contest
Aysha Ricketts was chosen as the winner for the first annual Father’s Day Essay Contest. Eight schools participated and over 80 essays expressing “What My Father Means to Me” were submitted in the competition. The five finalists were chosen by the judges and the first place prize was a brand new iPad Mini among other prizes. The contest introduces an initiative to bring recognition to great fathers in our society.
International Men’s Day
In November, 1000 Man March sponsored and participated in the two weekend events to celebrate International Men’s Day (IMD). This is the second consecutive year that the Cayman Islands will join the rest of the world in honouring the achievements and positive contributions of both men and boys. These activities are made possible through community donations.
Bonaventure Boys’ Home
This year, 1000 Man March outreach paid monthly visits to the Bonaventure Boys’ Home for a night of entertainment involving pizza, games and Christian movies.
Positive Message Campaign
The 1000 Man March continues to spread positive messages throughout our community and to the world. This year, we sponsored two adverts in the Cayman Airways Skies magazine; One to encourage men to be more involved with their families and the other to pray.
It is part of our mission as 1000 Man March to give back to those in need. This year, we helped families in need within our community by giving donations.
The 1000 Man March increased by 10 new members and volunteers for the year.
